Spacious lakeside villa for 12 people

At the beginning of the 20th century, the farm known as Kuorekoski had a red cottage, also referred to as a croft. This small dwelling place had a cowshed for four cows and a small field. A sauna stood by the rapids, and on the other side of the stream was the village mill. A small threshing barn rose on the hillside — everything needed was close at hand.

The years passed and generations changed. The once-busy life beside the rapids grew quiet as the countryside changed. The red cottage remained, while the cowshed and threshing barn fell into ruin as they were no longer needed. Birch trees grew in the field, sheltering the old farmyard. Kuorekoski slept for 40 years.

In 2011, the rapids were still rushing. In spring and autumn they flow strongly, quieting slightly with the warmth of summer and the cold of winter. The mill dams are gone, as is the sauna by the stream. The stone walls of the cowshed still stand proudly in place, a memory of times gone by. The old lilac bushes still manage to bloom every year.

On the site of the red cottage now stands a new building: Kallen Tupa, named after Kalle, the master of the house from 1945 to 1984. On the lawn beneath the birches, there is space for children and the young at heart to run and play. In the peaceful upper reaches of the rapids, a silvered deadwood pine sauna has been built, offering authentic and atmospheric steam.
